Day 8 - Marmaid Pools
We had found a couple of lines in a guide book that mentioned some ‘Mermaid Pools’ hidden a cave that was only accessible at low water. Warned that they are a challenge to find and that not all those who set out to seek them, find their secretive location. A challenge to find secret Mermaid Pools… what better way could there be to spend a Thursday? I won’t give away too much of the secret but suffice to say that finding the Mermaid Pools involved two kayaks, some excitement, a head torch, a seal and some underground scrambling. The pools and caverns are beautiful and well worth the effort in searching out their location. Did I see a Mermaid? Well there are some things that have to reman secret.
We boarded Narwhal once again and headed to an anchorage in Loch Scarvaig nestled under the dramatic Cullin Hills. We dropped anchor under the watchful eye of a colony of common seals. Spurred on by the mornings excitement we bagged a ‘double adventure’ by kayaking ashore and walking up the beautiful Loch Coruisk. The dramatic Cullin ridge hanging above us and calling to us for future adventures.
