Orkney to Bodø sailing expedition report

Sailing adventure from Orkney to Bodo

Wow, that was quite an adventure! Over 700nm, an upwind passage to Norway that made it feel as though it was up hill all the way, the most amazing whale encounter, dawn kayaking and hiking at the Svartisen glacier. Here are some of the highlights…

I hadn’t been expecting what happened next but was to be one of the most exciting moments of my life!

We were surrounded by around 200 pilot whales, some of which gave us quite a close up visit!

Hiking up to the glacier. It was amazing how active and noisy it was with rushing water and falling ice.

Along the way we found some opportunities to get in a bit of paddling. Not bad backdrops!
